DANCE; Nigel


Nigel Dance passed away on June 10th, 2016 from multiple myeloma. He was a kind, gentle, selfless and loving father and husband, to whom family was paramount. Nigel had a wonderful sense of humour. He was a dedicated and caring instructor, a passionate gardener, talented model-airplane maker, film buff and avid reader. He also enjoyed playing pickle-ball, painting and ballroom dancing with the love of his life, Lesley. Nigel was born on September 17th, 1950 in Hereford, England. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and PHD in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Aston in Birmingham. It was there he met and fell in love with Lesley, who he married in September 1974. In 1976, he and Lesley moved to Canada to carry out academic research and raised their three children in Abbotsford, BC. Nigel was a professor at the University of the Fraser Valley, where he worked for over 35 years teaching chemistry. Nigel is predeceased by his loving wife Lesley, but is survived by his three children Derry (Julia), Paul (Jenny) and Caroline (Jeremy), his grandson Orson, mother Sylvia and sister Valerie (Sam). His family love him dearly and he will be greatly missed. A private family service has been held. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Red Cross are appreciated.
