Naida HUXTABLE

Naida Huxtable passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2006 after a short stay in Mission Memorial Hospital and ECU. She was born in Ponoka, Alberta on June 26, 1914, the youngest of four children. She married John Huxtable and moved to his homestead in Dorintosh where they had three children. They moved to Lake Errock, BC in 1947 where they lived until they moved to Deroche, BC in June 1956 where Naida was the Postmaster for 23 years. In 1979 she retired from the post office and in 1983 her husband passed away. Naida was predeceased by her father when she was very young, her mother in 1954, her husband in 1983, and a sister and two brothers. She is survived by her children Page (Angus) McKinnon, Maureen Harper and Wayne (Shirley) Huxtable; nine grandchildren: Cynthia (Scott) Morris, April (Randall) Penner, Gary (Stephanie) Huxtable, Murray (Kris) Huxtable, Lisa Huxtable, Michael Harper, Bradley (Allissa) Harper, Scott Harper, and Darren Harper; also eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a very special niece, Naida Schultz to whom the family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for her dedication to Mom over the years. A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Hatzic Cemetery, followed by a Memorial Tea at Deroche Community Hall. Over her long lifetime, Mom touched many lives. She will always be loved and missed by all of her family.
