She will be greatly missed by her many grandchildren, Derrick Richards (D) (Kim), Dick Richards (D), Kimberly Conlon (Bob), Chad Thomas (Susan), Guy Thomas (Natalie), Tamara Thomas, James Turner, Hana Turner, Richard Turner (Katie), Jeff Turner (Bianca), Kris Turner (Kelly), Karla Turner (Mikey) and Clayton Turner, as well as 21 great-grandchildren.
Mom grew up in Sask. although BC. was her home after the war. She always told us she had a loving family (5 brothers and 2 sisters) and was the luckiest girl in the world for having an identical twin, Lill.
The depression years were hard on most people, however mom never dwelled on this. She never talked about what they didn't have, but what they did to make things fun creatively, and for all the friends they had.
Mom loved her children and many grandchildren. She devoted as much time to us as she could. She was also an extremely creative and hard working women.
Besides running our household, she'd often bake comfort and happiness into delicious treats that the neighbor kids would walk miles to enjoy. The next day after an hour of yoga, she might help fix cars in the garage with my dad or build (from scratch) upholstered furniture for her home or children and grandkids.
Mom's biggest gift to her family has been her example and encouragement to live life to its fullest and to do what makes you happy.
A visit with mum provided a shot of positivity.
A typical goodbye often included her recipe for a better life.
"Let's hug"
"I love you, thanks for the visit."
"Don't worry about me, I'm fine as long as you and your family are happy and well"
"Life is so short, enjoy every minute, get out there and live it."
She will be sadly missed.
Family and Friends will gather graveside for a final send off and to place her ashes alongside her husband. Date TBD.
