AFFLECK - Myrtle Ida passed away on October 27, 2011 at the age of 91 years at Abbotsford Hospital. Ida enjoyed life to the fullest, enjoying cooking, baking, sewing and traveling. She also enjoyed spending time and talking with her friends. Ida was a 50 year member of the Florence Nightingale Chapter of Eastern Star in Ontario and she was also an Associate member of Branch 15 Royal Canadian Legion in Abbotsford, BC. Ida is survived by son Terrance (Affleck) Hutchinson and his wife Bonnie (Cameron) Hutchinson, grandchildren Tanya, Sara, Amy and Amanda Hutchinson, Jane and Rodrick Affleck. Also 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her cousins Gail (Root) Gallinger of Chilliwack, BC, best friend and caregiver Vivienne (Barry) Garner of Abbotsford, BC, best friends Jean Bratrud of Toronto, Ont, Jeanine Alarie of Ottawa, Ont.
Ida was predeceased by her husband Charles Garnett Affleck and her father Clarence Root, mother Macie Myrtle (Guild) Root, step-mother Edythe (vanAlstyne) Root, aunt Catherine (Root) Ruttle. Funeral arrangements have been left to Woodlawn Funeral Home, Abbotsford, for cremation, burial will be at a later date. There will be no funeral as per Ida's request.
The family and friends of Ida would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of acute care third floor, Abbotsford Hospital for their kindness and assistance. Donations may be made in memory of Ida to the Order of the Eastern Star, the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice.
