BUI, Mung Van

Mr. Mung Van Bui, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, a faithful Christian, was born on 11/15/1923 in South Vietnam, the son of Mr./Mrs. Hien Bui. He married Mrs. Bup Nguyen in 1946, Long Xuyen, Vietnam. They moved to Rach Soi, Rach Gia in the early 50s and became one of charter family of Vietnamese Alliance Church in Rach Gia City, then, Vietnamese Church in Rach Soi town. In 1963, he served with United Bible Societies to distribute the gospel in South Vietnam until 1975. In the Spring of 1984, the Buis left their hometown for Sikiew refugee camp in Thailand where Mr. Bui became a lay leader of Tin Lanh group. He led a few hundred of Vietnamese to Jesus Christ and baptized them.

In the fall of 1985, his family was sponsored by Red Deer Alliance Church and resettled in Red Deer, Alta. In 1989 his family moved to Abbotsford and became an important part of the Vietnamese Church in Abbotsford.

After two months of struggle with illness, he went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2011 at 1:45 am at Abbotsford Regional Hospital.

He is survives by: His wife, Bup Nguyen, 4 brothers and a sister, 5 sons, 5 daughters in-law, 4 daughters, 4 sons in-law, 32 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.

The Bui family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff of Abbotsford Regional Hospital for their excellent care. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Emmanuel Mennonite Church, 3471 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford, BC. Burial was at Hazelwood Cemetery, Abbotsford, BC.
