Passed away: September 18, 2020. Age: 91 years at the Menno Hospital and Campus of Care Facility in Abbotsford, BC.
Survived by daughter Julia Dawn Shuker of Abbotsford, BC, son Jaymon Stuart Shuker (Tiffany and Jocelyn) of Quesnel, BC.
Predeceased by her parents Edith and George Dodd Sr., all siblings, Peggy, Gena and George Dodd Jr. Also, her husband of 64 years, Stuart Langley Shuker (December, 2015.)
Gertie was born in Dodsland ,Saskatchewan on May 29, 1929. After sneaking out of her bedroom window to go to a dance with her brother George, she met Stuart "Murphy" Shuker, and they were married on June 4, 1951. Two children followed, Julie and Jay, both born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. In 1974 the family followed a host of Saskatchewan stubble jumping friends and relatives who relocated to Abbotsford, BC.
Gertie sold real estate in Prince Albert and worked hard to gain her credentials in BC. She became a very successful real estate agent in Abbotsford. Gertie was definitely the "Hostess with the Mostest" and prided herself on her ability to host wonderful and scrumptious parties for her many friends and family.
Her family came first, their well-being, care and success were her primary focus. Gertie was active with the Abbotsford Swim Club, Kinette service organization, and enjoyed bridge and curling.
Gertie will be missed by all who knew her. She was an exceptionally strong women, who was a special and loyal friend, a caring, dedicated Mother, and loving wife. The party upon her arrival in heaven will be amazing, as she will again be with Dad and her many friends, both two legged and four legged. Let the food and beverages flow!
Many thanks to all of the amazing Menno Hospital West 2 staff for Mom's care.
