DHALIWAL, Mohinder Kaur

March 12, 1933~May 15, 2010

Mohinder passed away with her family beside her at Abbotsford Regional Hospital on May 15, 2010.

Mohinder was a pioneer who arrived in Mission City from the Village of Sarabha, Punjab in 1950. Her beloved husband Paul Singh Dhaliwal was already settled in Mission and together they raised six children. Like her husband, she too was a trailblazer. Morality characterized who she was and how she lived her life. As a pioneer she assisted many immigrant women in adapting to their new world and continued to remain a significant role model in her community. Working as a mother was a full-time job, however Mohinder also worked outside of the home in an era when few immigrant women did. She instilled this strong work ethic and a sense of values in her children. That legacy continues with her grandchildren. The memory of her grace and devotion will be forever cherished and honoured by her husband, six children, seven grandchildren, and extended family. Mohinder's love and support was genuine and unconditional. As a Mother and Grandmother, her strength and perseverance will continue to be an inspiration. Family and friends will remember her integrity, sweetness, and caring nature.
