Minnie Reimer (nee Kornelson)

March 31, 1924 - November 12, 2021
Minnie Reimer (nee) Kornelson passed away peacefully into the presence of her Lord on November 12, 2021 at age 97. Minnie was born on March 31, 1924 to Frank and Bertha Kornelson in Koltan Samara, Russia.
Minnie was predeceased by her parents, husband John Reimer, stepson Ed Reimer and all her siblings (2 brothers: John & Abe Kornelson and 5 sisters: Mary Stobbe, Annie Brown, Bertha Kornelson, Martha Krahn & Erna Doerksen). Minnie was the last of her generation.
She is survived by her step children: Esther (Henry) Suderman, Irene (Charles) Loewen, Naomi Crapo, Lorrinda Reimer, Dan (Ann-Marie) and Ruth (Rick) Felske. Also 18 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family moved from Russia to Canada, eventually settling in Brotherfield, Saskatchewan arriving via boxcar. In 1928, the family moved to Agassiz in search of a better life. In 1934, her mother moved the family to Short Road in Abbotsford. Minnie attended South Abbotsford MB Church and in 1943, she was baptized.
Minnie lived with her mother for many years and was devoted to her care. She also worked in the M.S.A. Hospital as a ward aide until 1974. She enjoyed singing in the choir and traveling abroad with all her girlfriends.
At age 50, Minnie married John Reimer, a widower with 6 adult children. Minnie was a great wife and caring companion to her husband of 30 years. In her later years, she enjoyed volunteering at MCC, gardening, flower arranging and socializing.
Minnie moved to the Menno home in 2008, as her struggles with dementia increased. She is now without pain and confusion and using her beautiful singing voice in heaven. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 22 from 6:30 - 7:30 at Woodlawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life is planned for Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021 at 1 pm at South Abbotsford Church, 32424 Huntingdon Rd Abbotsford.
