Michael John Redburn

Sunrise : December 24, 1946 ~ Sunset : February 8, 2017

No amount of Duct Tape, Gorilla Glue or WD40 could mend his troubles this time. Michael John Redburn passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 - husband to Leslie ("Pet"); father to Simone; Grandad to " The Ginger Army" of Fiona, Dorian and Cecelia; "Brother Grimm" to his older brother Tony Redburn; predeceased by his mother, Florence Jean Violet (but they called her Susie). Born in Cheltenham, England, Mike spent his early years in Nottingham, England, before migrating to Canada in 1957 with his mother and brother. Life in Vancouver offered him many friends, biking, fishing, duck chasing, and scuba diving, while his subsequent four decades in Mission saw him working strenuously at the local mills, "Puttering" around the house and garden, spending time with family, and ever looking forward to the next sun-and-sand vacation. Mike was a hard worker, a gardener, a beach bum, a collector of curios, an ever-inquisitive investigator (he always knew if a beer had gone missing from his fridge). He was a complex man who found the most pleasure in the simpler things in life - with a beer in hand and a beach at sunset, he was at his happiest. Please join us for the wake at his family home on Saturday, February 18 at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please contact Magnolias on Main to contribute to a memorial fruit tree orchard for his grandchildren.
