October 6, 1959 - July 7, 2022
With great sadness we announce the passing of Mike Van Leeuwen. Mike passed away peacefully on July 7, 2022 at his home in Chilliwack, B.C. Mike was born in Edmonton in 1959 and remained there until moving to British Columbia in 1994.
In 1980 Mike completed his Journeyman certification for Sheet Metal Mechanic at NAIT. Mike worked for various sheet metal and heating/air conditioning companies providing fabrication and on-site installations in Edmonton, Yellowknife and Calgary. As well, he expanded his skills and worked as a draftsman & designer during this time.
Upon arrival in British Columbia in 1994 he quickly secured work as a feed mill equipment operator. In 1996 Mike created Comfort Valley Ventilation and Heating Ltd and was able enjoy his final working years as an entrepreneur taking on many complex commercial projects.
Due to increasing health issues from complications with diabetes Mike retired from his business in 2012. In retirement Mike enjoyed gardening, pets and developing his natural artistic skills with drawing, painting, and intricate copper works.
Mike was pre-deceased by his father Peter in 1999.
He is survived by his Mother Edith, Sister Dinah (Randy), Brother Vic (Dolores), Sister Teresa (Terry), Brother Dan (Suzanne) and Aunt Nona (Dennis).
Mike was Uncle to numerous Nieces and Nephews. He will be missed.
A private family service is planned in the coming weeks.
