May 23, 1969 - February 28, 2019
It is with sadness that the family of Matt Loewen announces his passing due to a heart attack on February 28, 2019. He was on holiday in the city of Nha Trang, Vietnam at the time.

Matthew was born to LaVern and Marni Loewen, their second child, on May 23, 1969 in the quaint prairie town of Boissevain, Manitoba. As a child he grew up in Steinbach, Manitoba before spending his teen years in Port Kells, BC. As an adult he lived primarily in the Lower Mainland area with a four year stint as a resident of Newport Beach, California.

Matthew is survived by his parents, his siblings Mark Loewen and Mary-Liz Borseth, his sons Tristan, Xavier, and Quintin Loewen, his granddaughter Nicole Loewen, Esther Heinrichs (Matt's first wife and mother of his sons), and Colleen Armstrong (Matt's second wife). In recent years Matthew struggled with mental illness which made connecting with his family difficult. He had begun to show some improvement prior to his passing.

Matthew's Memorial Service will be held on May 11 at 1 pm at the Port Kells Community Hall, 18918-88th Ave., Surrey, BC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation in his name be made to the Cyrus Centre, a homeless shelter for youth in Abbotsford at www.cyruscentre.com/giving/
