Mary Reimer was born on September 17, 1923 in Blumenort, Siberia to Peter and Maria (Kasper) Reimer. At the age of two, her family emigrated to Canada settling first in Boissevain, Manitoba, then, eleven years later moving to British Columbia, settling on Huntingdon Road in Abbotsford.
Mary was a teacher and taught in many schools in School District 34. During her time teaching for SD34, she took leave-of-absences and taught in St Lucia, Columbia, as well as Montreal. She had an adventurist spirit about her. She retired from teaching in 1987.
After retirement, Mary volunteered as a teacher at Logos Christian College in St. Petersburg, Russia. She also volunteered for many years at the MCC store.
Mary passed away on September 18, 2020, one day after her 97th birthday. She is survived by her sister Katherine Rempel, sisters-in-law Stella Reimer (Pete) and Minnie Reimer (John), many nieces and nephews, as well as her chosen family, Volodya, Tanya, Julia and Vasiliy Nosov. Her parents and remaining siblings have gone before her.
A private service will be held on October 2, 2020.
