HOGAN. Mary Theresa. Died peacefully December 29, 2011. She was born in Toronto December 18, 1925. Her early years were spent living in Ontario, Vancouver, and Doreen, BC. She attended Ursuline College in Chatham, training as a Registered Nurse at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto and at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver. Her first RN position was in Williams Lake, BC. While there Mary Theresa purchased a stallion (Tony) that she would ride during her free time. When the time came to leave Williams Lake she freed Tony to run with the wild horses living in the region and for several years after an acquaintance reported seeing Tony running with his new herd. In 1951 Mary Theresa married James Hogan. In 1957 they quit their jobs and moved to Mexico to become artists, studying painting and photography at the Instituto Allende. In 1967 the family settled in Aldergrove, BC. Mary Theresa resumed her work as a RN at Riverview Psychiatric Hospital and managed the family's 10-acre hobby farm. The farm was home to horses, cows, goats, geese, ducks, a donkey, cats, chickens and Maja Kennels (Beagles, Toy Poodles, and Keeshonds). Maja Kennels produced many CAN/US Champions. She truly loved being a nurse, a mother to four children, and a partner in life to her loving husband, James. She was predeceased by James, and sister Helen. She is survived by her brother John (Pat), her children Toireasa (Roger) Strong, James, Geralyn, and Eugene, her grandson Anton (Samantha), and her great-granddaughters Maretta and Shula. Considerable thanks to the caring staff at Hallmark on the Park and Abbotsford Regional Hospital. Funeral Mass: 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 28, St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 33333 Mayfair Ave. Abbotsford, BC. Memorial donations to the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation
