HENDERSON, Mary (nee Lay) passed away peacefully on December 15, 2013 at the age of 95 years. She was predeceased by her husband Harvey in 1972, two sisters Marjorie and Gladys, and two brothers Frank and Bill. She is survived by her loving family: daughter Marg (Bruce) Harper, grandson Jeff Kerrie, granddaughter Shayna Kerrie (Billy) and great- grandson, Lukas. She is also survived by brother Jack Lay and by many nieces & nephews. Mary was a long-time resident of Abbotsford; moving here from Saskatchewan in 1937 with her parents, brothers and sisters. She was the first female border crossing guard at Huntingdon and only left her position when she married Harvey in 1952 as female customs officers could not be married. Mary was active in the community and loved her weekly bridge games, but her greatest joy was her family. She loved being a mother to Marg and then a wonderful and loving grandmother who was instrumental in raising Jeff and Shayna. She will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 21st at 3:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford. A private family graveside service will be held at a later time.
