June 30, 1921 - January 7, 2022
Born in Hastings, Sussex, UK ~ Passed away at Worthington Pavillion Care Home, Abbotsford, BC.
Marjorie was a "Canadian War Bride who came to Canada in 1946. Her husband was John ("Stubby") Plowright who came to Abbotsford as a 12 year old in 1921 when his family came here to homestead.
Marjorie met John during WWII. He was in the Canadian Army, and was on two day leave in London. There was a serious Air Raid that day, and they happened to meet in a below ground London bomb shelter with many other scared folks.
She came to Canada in1946 and they were married in Abbotsford on January 9th, 1947 and lived here ever since. John passed away in 1993.
Marjorie is survived by her 3 sons, Chris (Joanne), Rob (Hilary) and Gord (Kara), and 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Also by her sister Sheila (Dennis) in Gloucester, U.K.
She was a very "giving " person. She was Superintendent of Sunday School for 25 years at Trinity Memorial United Church in Abbotsford. After that she served for many years with the UCW group of volunteers.
At age 90, she was recognized as "Abbotsford's Outstanding Volunteer of the Decade" for her 44 years of assisting voluntarily at the Public Health Centre. She registered new born babes and weighed them for record. What a volunteer!!!!
She was loving and caring and she made it to just over 100 years.
We will miss her very much.
The care for her at Worthington was much appreciated and worthy of our praise indeed!
