LAIDLEY, Marilyn "Lynne"

We regret to announce the passing of Marilyn "Lynne" Frances Laidley at Abbotsford Regional Hospital on November 5, 2009. Lynne was born in Vancouver on April 10, 1930 and grew up in Kitsilano. She is predeceased by her parents Arthur and Edith Brewer and grandson Anthony. Lynne is survived by her best friend and loving husband, Edward "Ed" Laidley, daughters Cheryl (Lindsay), Allisen "Wendy" (Ray), Teresa, and son Michael (Lorraine), 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, step-children Susan, Wendy (Gordon) and Murray (Valerie), brother-in-law Victor, sister-in-Lynne will be remembered as a devoted wife, caring mother, and a supportive and involved grandmother and great-grandmother.

Lynne had a special talent for living life to the fullest. In the early years in Abbotsford she coached girls' baseball and organized a "teen town". She worked in retail sales, her last position as a store manager in ladies apparel. Lynne and Ed shared a love of music, theatre and the arts and were active in theatre guilds in Abbotsford and Kamloops and as snowbirds in Texas and Florida. They also shared a passion for reading and travel, and after Ed's retirement spent 6 years travelling throughout North America, visiting 49 states and 9 provinces. Lynne and Ed worked with Community Policing and the Speed Watch programs while living in Kamloops, and in Aldergrove, Lynne was Social Committee Chair for their Strata Council, organizing pot luck suppers and bingo nights.

Lynne fought hard in her brief but devastating battle with cancer. We would like to thank family and many friends for their support and care during this time. No funeral will be held by request of Lynne.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC SPCA (Abb. 604-850-1584), Community Police (604-856-0798) or a charity of your choice.
