HUTTON, Marie Marguerite (McKim)
Born December 26, 1946 in Dinard, France, Marie passed away on January 3, 2009 at Vancouver General Hospital.
Marie leaves behind her husband of 40 years, Ken, her daughter Lisa (Pete) and four children, Philip, Juliette, Sofia and James, her son David, daughter Jocelyn and partner Shannon. Also survived by mother Simonne, her husband Paul and family, and cousin Andree. Predeceased by Frank and Mireille McKim of Abbotsford.
Marie was a wife, mother, grandmother and primary schoolteacher who loved to travel, read and play golf. She was also a Scrabble and crossword enthusiast.
Marie had a bone marrow transplant in 2002 and was able to experience the birth of two grandchildren, the growth of a third grandchild, and to travel extensively. The family is grateful for the work of Dr. Thomas Nevill and his team at the Bone Marrow Transplant unit at VGH.
Special thanks also go to Dr. Allan Watts who cared for Marie and family for more than 25 years, to Dr. Majeed and Nicole Wikjord and their team for the comfort provided by the Palliative Care Unit.
Funeral services well be held on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 10:am at Delta Funeral Home, 5329 Ladner Trunk Road, Delta, BC, with burial to follow at Point Roberts Cemetery, Point Roberts, Washington, near Marie and Ken's cabin where they enjoy walks to the beach and visits from friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Vancouver General Hospital.
