It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Marie Garbet, in the early morning of March 25th at the Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission, BC at the age of 82. The second youngest of seventeen children, she was born in St. Boniface, MB.
Her early love of knowledge inspired her to pursue a teaching career. Various jobs led her to Calgary, AB, and a position as Assistant Principal. There she met and married her beloved husband, Lorne, in 1964. After moving around the country to various army bases, they ultimately settled in Mission, BC where they raised their children, Brian and Barb.
Once her children had grown she was able to continue her teaching career by becoming an Educational Assistant in the Mission School District. She retired in 2000 but she continued to teach everyone around her how to be a good person by her wonderful example.
Marie loved to laugh, play cards and spend time with friends. She loved family most of all. She was never happier than when spending time with her family, talking and laughing.
She is survived by her beloved children Brian (Stephanie) and Barb (Rob) and her precious grandson Dylan.
A celebration of Marie's life will be held in Abbotsford at Garden Park Towers, 2825 Clearbrook Rd #101, on Saturday, April 28th at 2:00 pm.
