July 5, 1917 - November 16, 2020
Marie came to Canada from Russia when she was eight years old. She arrived in Saskatchewan with her parents Jacob and Anna Peters, along with several siblings. The family soon moved to Pitt Meadows. Marie was the oldest of six children. She was predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings.
Marie married David Donald Balzer on June 2, 1940. Together they served for many years in the Greendale M.B. Church, in the capacity of deacons and home visitations. They enjoyed each other for 54 years. The love of her life left her too early on December 2, 1994.
As a widow, Marie continued serving and loving others. Marie served many lunches at the Garden Park Tower and was famous for her zwiebach. She loved baking for the M.C.C. relief sales.
At the age of 101, Marie felt it was time to go into care at the Mayfair. Her health improved and she enjoyed her stay there. She was treated royally and lovingly. Marie's health only declined when her liver started to shut down during her last ten days. She left peacefully for her eternal home, with Sonja by her side on November 16, 2020.
Friends and family will miss her dearly.
Marie is survived by her son Peter (Betty) Balzer, daughter Sonja (Ben) Reddicopp, estranged daughter Kathleen, grandsons Jonathan (Gina), Jason (Allison), Gregory (Sherri), and Jeff (Helen), granddaughter Valinda (Brad), seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was deeply loved by all who knew her.
