Margaret Veer was born on September 10, 1923 in Teige, Russia, to Jacob and Helena Lepp. Her family immigrated to Canada in June, 1926 and settled in the Hepburn, Saskatchewan area. It was at the Hepburn church that she met her future husband, Henry Veer. They were married on July 28th, 1946 in the South Abbotsford Church and celebrated 68 years of marriage. In 1949 Henry and Margaret bought a ten-acre farm on Clearbrook Road. They farmed together for the next 42 years, growing raspberry crops and raising laying hens. They raised their three sons Ronald, Larry and Mark on the farm enjoying the advantages of ten acres of boy-filled adventures. Margaret was thrilled when the boys married and daughters and granddaughters joined the family, finally she could have some female conversations. Church was always an important part of Mom’s life. She had committed her life to the Lord as a teenager and sought to live her life pleasing to God. She enjoyed singing and being part of singing groups and choirs. Although very busy working on the farm she still found time to create a happy home for her family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and baking special treats for her family. Mom loved playing Nintendo and always enjoyed playing a game of Rook with the children and grandchildren. She was an avid knitter and knit hundreds of sweater sets and socks for the homeless and relief organizations. Margaret is survived by her husband Henry, sons Ronald (Erna), Larry (Lois) Mark (Melody), six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 7-9:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 1:00 pm at South Abbotsford Church, 32424 Huntingdon Road, Abbotsford. Messages of condolence may be left for family at:
