THORESON, Madeleine Marie Anne (nee Leguerrier)

May 13, 1925 - May 25, 2008

Madeleine, wife of the late Edwin Albert Thoreson, passed away peacefully in her 83rd year in the arms of her loving children, Linda (Allan) Hayden, Lila (John) Walthers, Gary, Larry (Edith) and Dan (Deb) Thoreson.

She will be sadly missed by grandchildren Eric Hayden, Jason Thoreson, Chantel Thoreson, Crystal Thoreson, Wade Thoreson, Stacy Thoreson, Katelin Esler, Danielle Thoreson, Janie Thoreson and Kelly Thoreson. Predeceased by grandson Bradley Thoreson. Survived by her sisters and brothers Cecile Godin, Lucienne Albert, Laurette (Ken) Moffat, Yvette Rivard, Jeannette Sebastian, Maurice (Margaret) Leguerrier, George (Lorna) Leguerrier and Lise (Bert) Pigeon. Predeceased by brothers Roger Leguerrier, Paul Leguerrier, Lucien Leguerrier and sister Claire (Elmer) Beattie.

Madeleine was born May 13, 1925 in Fort Kent, Alberta. In 1943, she went to Montreal to work at Norduyn, a war airplane factory. Then in 1944 she moved to New Westminister, BC and worked at Canadian Pacific Airplanes, then went to work for Pacific Veneer in 1946. In 1948, Madeleine met Ed Thoreson at the Arenex, where their love for dancing brought them together and they were married on June 24, 1950. They made their first home in Burnaby, BC and started their family. In 1958 they moved the family of five to the Abbotsford area. Many local residents will remember Madeleine running their family green bean and blueberry farm. Madeleine also enjoyed sewing, old time & square dancing, gardening, bowling.

Her last years were spent at the Menno Home and Hospital. A very special thank you to the staff and residents for all the loving care and attention that she was given.

Prayers will be held at St Ann's Catholic Church, 33333 Mayfair Ave, Abbotsford, BC on Wednesday May 28 at 7 PM. Funeral Mass will follow on Thursday May 29 at 11 AM, with lunch to follow in the church hall.
