Lydia Peters Schroeder ~ 1918 - 2014.
Lydia Peters Schroeder, long time member of the Central Heights MB Church, passed away at the age of 95. She was surrounded by her earthly family as she peacefully slipped away to join her family in heaven on September 7, 2014. II Corinthians 5:8, “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” Lydia was predeceased by her parents, 3 siblings, son Dennis Peters as well as husbands William Peters and Martin Schroeder. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Lynda (David) Pierce, Judy Peters (Jeff Martin), Bob (Linda) Peters, and Bonnie Peters (CJ Neufeld), daughter-in-law Susan Peters, 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and her brother Arthur Pump. Lydia lived in Germany and Russia in her early years, enduring many hard times. She came to Canada in 1929, and settled in Vancouver. After she married William John Peters, they resided in Abbotsford where they raised a family of 5 children. During those years she was a busy wife and mother and didn’t have much time for herself. Bill died in 1971 and she married Martin Schroeder in 1975. Lydia enjoyed oil painting, bowling, travelling and playing the piano. Her faith and her church were always an integral part of her life. Family and friends were also very important to her. She took special joy in her grandchildren, focusing her life around the family. Lydia’s kind heart and generous nature stayed with her throughout her life. She was a constant “giver”, always putting others first. Our sincere thanks to Dr. James and the nursing staff at Delta Hospital. There will be a private family Celebration of Life held for Lydia.
