Luella Gertrude (nee Enns) KEHLER

January 21, 2005

Luella Gertrude (nee Enns)

Born August 25, 1916, went to be with her Lord on Friday, January 21, 2005. She left this world peacefully at home with loving family at her side.

Luella will be remembered and missed for her radiant smile, her abiding faith in God and her gentle and loving spirit. She leaves behind a large and close knit family of three sons and one daughter and their spouses; 9 grandchildren and spouses; and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law and many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.

Luella grew up on a farm near Rosenort, Manitoba with six brothers and sisters. Her childhood memories were full of love, laughter and music. She met her husband John Kehler while attending Bible School, and eventually they took their growing family to minister to people of the far north and other small communities in Saskatchewan.

When John passed away in 1962, Luella brought her daughter and youngest son to BC to care for her father and bachelor brother. She continued to live with her brother for some 40 years, until he suffered extensive health problems and moved permanently into care in 1999. Her two older sons followed her to BC when they were able and she spent her life surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Luella touched the hearts of everyone she met and she will be greatly missed. We wish to express special thanks to her family doctor for his care and attention to her needs, to the palliative care nurses who came into her life so recently, and to the many home care workers who instantly loved her and spoiled her with their care over the years.

Please join us for a memorial service and celebration of her wonderful life on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at 1:30 pm at Sevenoaks Alliance Church, 2575 Gladwin Rd., Abbotsford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northern Canada Evangelical Mission, or to sponsor a missionary of your choice.
