Born May 2, 1917 in Edmonton, Alberta. Family emigrated to the Netherlands in 1921 where he grew up. Bert married Hillegonda Koster in 1946.
He is survived by his wife Hillegonda, sons Harald and George; 3 granddaughters, 2 grandsons; also two sisters.
The entire family emigrated to Vancouver in 1954 and settled in Pitt Meadows in 1955, where they remained for 25 years.
Bert was a house contractor until 1965 and a draftsman until 1982. Bert and Gonda retired to Coquitlam in 1982, then moved to Abbotsford in 1991 together until Bert's passing on October 27, 2003.
Bert was very actively involved with the Pitt Meadows Lions's Club.
Viewing will be held Friday, Octovber 31, 2003 from 12 noon to 1:;30 p.m. at Personal Alternative Funeral Service4s, 3070 - 275A St., Aldergrove. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Gateway Community Reformed Church, 1951 McCallum Road, Abbotsford.
