June 13, 1928 - February 24, 2021
Fern Murphy was born on June 13, 1928 in Metiskow, Alberta to Gladys and Leslie Stewart. On February 24, 2021, at the age of 92 and after a very short battle with cancer, she went to be with her Lord and Saviour under the loving care of Holmberg Hospice in Abbotsford.
She is survived by her children; Pat, Bonnie (Paul) and Michael (Carol), five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two sisters, and many nieces and nephews. Fern is predeceased by her husbands Larry Murphy (1993), Ray Plastow (1997), and Ronald Bayne (2020) as well as her parents, two brothers, four sisters and one daughter-in-law.
Her life's journey took her from Metiskow to Edmonton where she met and married Larry Murphy. Together with two children they moved to Vancouver where their third child was born. After settling in Port Coquitlam, they lived on a small hobby farm where Fern happily indulged her love of the land and her passion for all creatures.
When Larry passed away in 1993, Fern moved to Abbotsford to be closer to her family. She loved spending time helping others, volunteering at church, multiple community organizations and building relationships with those around her.
Fern had a bright and energetic personality. Her zest for life and the Lord overflowed to all those around her. Every new challenge was met with faith and optimism. She has left behind a beautiful legacy to be passed on for generations to come and we are grateful for everything that she has done and inspired us to be.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Abbotsford Hospice Society would be greatly appreciated.
