Lola Blanche Fast

June 3, 1921 - September 22, 2017.

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Lola Blanche Fast on Friday September 22, 2017.

She is survived by sons Gordon (Hazel), Gary (Gillian), 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Lola was predeceased by her first husband Stanley Wood and Robert (Bob) Fast, husband for 68 years.

Lola was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on June 3rd, 1921.  Following a childhood on the family farm, as a teenager she moved West to Vancouver and Victoria.

Capable and conscientious, she promptly found work as a Governess.  It was in Victoria where Lola met her first husband Stanley E. Wood.  Sadly Stanley's life was lost during the war.  Widowed, Lola worked and created the best life possible for herself and her young son Gordon.

On October 7th, 1942, she married Bob residing in Vancouver. For the next 68 years, Lola excelled at homemaking providing a family life Bob and the boys cherished.

She was a superb cook, amazing seamstress, green thumb gardener and animal lover. Besides being a devoted wife, a caring mother and grandmother, Lola was a collector focusing on antique dolls in particular.

Best of all, Lola loved gatherings with family and friends. Birthdays, anniversaries, seasonal events, graduations etc. were all worthy of a grand celebration.

Lola's life was well-lived  and in her final years, we wish to deeply thank the wonderful care givers at the Menno Home West 2.

We also wish to recognize the exceptional care provided by the Chaplains and remarkable volunteers who provided Lola with a smooth and gentle pathway to Heaven.

A Memorial Tea for Lola will be held at a later date.
