Lisa COOPER

December 12, 2006

True love is a rare blessing from God. It is with sadness that Lorne Cooper announces the death of his true love, Lisa Cooper on Tues., December 12, 2006. Lisa was born on October 18, 1968. When she was 8 years old, she was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis, a disease that causes benign tumors to grow around the nerves, causing great pain and eventually deformities. In 1985 Lisa and Lorne met in Winnipeg, Manitoba and a friendship began. In 1996 Lisa moved to Abbotsford and a long distance relationship followed. When Lorne moved to Abbotsford, his and Lisa’s friendship blossomed into romance. Married on July 25, 2003, Lorne and Lisa in the short time they had together shared the highs of love and the lows of illness from cancer. In February 2004 Lisa’s disease turned malignant. With Lorne beside her, Lisa fought a valiant and courageous battle against this hideous disease. A positive light and witness to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Lisa in the midst of her pain ministered to those who knew her and came to visit her, cheerfully welcoming people whether caregiver or friend. Lisa is survived by her husband of three and a half years, Lorne, her mother Birgitte Hansen, her two big sisters Janice Cronis and Cindy Van De Weige, her brother David Sadowick, her grandmother Thora Hansen and many aunts and uncles.

Lorne and Lisa’s family would like to thank the people from palliative care who were so good to Lisa and their friends and family at Central Heights Church for all of their love and support. They would also like to say a special thank you to Woodlawn Funeral Home for their wonderful care and attention.

Viewing will be held on Mon., December 18, 2006 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home. A Graveside service will be held on Tues., December 19, 2006 at 10:00 am from Maclure Rd. Cemetery, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 am from Central Heights MB Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Palliative Care Unit at MSA Hospital.
