LILIAN SEMENIUK (nee FARMAN)

May 31, 2004

Lilian Semeniuk, Matsqui pioneer, passed away on Monday, May 31, 2004 in the Menno Hospital. She was born May 26, 1916 on the family farm to parents who emigrated from Sweden in the early 1900's. She lived all her years in the Matsqui and Abbotsford area.

Lilian was a gentle soul who cared deeply for her family. She always looked for and saw the good in everyone around her. She was never critical of others, or of her circumstances.

Although she preferred to stay in the background, Lilian was an accomplished pianist. In her earlier days, she provided accompaniment for many community and church events in Matsqui. Later on she spent many years playing with the "Happy Gang", an Abbotsford choral group. Then she dueted with her husband Bill on the fiddle; she loved 'peppy music'.

Lilian will be sadly missed by her husband of 10 years, William Semeniuk, her children, Ann Senae (Bill) of Mission, Roy Jacobson (Dixie) of Langley, Elaine Jacobson (David) of Pender Island and her step children, Ruth Reinheller (Ray) of Mission, Priscilla Kaiser (David) of Abbotsford and Grace Pudney (Rob) of Surrey, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband John Jacobson, son Gary Jacobson , brother John Farman, sister-in-law Doris Farman, niece Lorraine Hayes and nephew David Farman.

The family would like to express its deep appreciation to the staff at Menno Hospital for their kindness and compassion in caring for Lilian.
