(Myrtle) Leone Larson

It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Myrtle Leone (Nonie / Nana) Larson of Clayburn. Mom grew up in the village as Leone Cairns. When she became a young mother, she moved down the road to the property on Bell Road, where she spent her remaining years. In 2001, Mom was recognized as a "Pioneer Resident" of Abbotsford and, while she was able, she worked with the Clayburn Heritage Society to preserve the village and raise funds for various projects. In doing so, she continued a tradition begun by her mother Kathleen Cairns, who was involved with the original rebuilding and restoration of the church. Mom passed away peacefully in her home on May 1, with her family by her side. She is predeceased by Robert (Bob) her husband of 56 years and baby Ronda. She is survived by her eldest brother Bud (Nora) Cairns, sister-in-law Ila Nelson, brother-in-law Ralph Williams, sons Wayne (Marion), Gerald, Dale (Cathy), Daryl (Mariam) and daughter Linda MacGregor (Bruce), as well as 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Her incredible love for all of her family was evidenced by the gathering which marked each special occasion. She treasured visiting with everyone, even more so during these last few years as great grandchildren came to see their "Nana". For generations, her famous "Nana Juice" recipe will be shared and enjoyed. The family would like to express our deepest appreciation for the dedication and love of Dr. Greyling and for the compassionate support of the many people who helped care for Mom, enabling her to remain in her home. A service to celebrate a life well lived, will be held at Trinity Memorial United Church, commencing at 2:00 pm on May 20th, with a tea to follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Matthew's House" (Canuck Place).
