Leonard Raddysh. After a valiant battle with cancer, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Leonard. Leonard was predeceased by his Father John Raddysh, his Mother Phyllis Raddysh, and his Sister Rosemarie Kogstad. He is survived by his Nephew Derek Kogstad, his Brother in-law Victor Kogstad, his Aunt Victoria Raddysh and his Aunt Mary Raddysh and many cousins. Leonard was a gentle kind hearted man. From his cowboy hat down to the western collectibles he Cherished, Leonard was a cowboy at heart. A gifted artist and an avid fisherman, if Leonard didn’t have his pole and tackle box in hand, he was probably working on one of his many western sketches. Leonard was also active in the Communitas Supportive Care Society. He met many friends there, and always looked forward to their weekly cooking class. It was through this organization that Leonard met his case worker Jonathan Goertz. No words can describe what Jonathan meant to Leonard and his family. Jonathan was there for cancer treatments, doctor appointments, grocery shopping trips, but most of all Jonathan was a true friend to Leonard and to his family. The family wishes to thank all those who touched Leonard’s life. The staff and all his friends at the Communitas Supportive Care Society, the home care staff that came to check on Leonard, and all the Doctors and Nurses at the Abbotsford Cancer Center and Hospital. Leonard was blessed to spend his final days surrounded by family and friends at the Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack. The care and attention that Leonard received from all the nurses and volunteers while staying there, was nothing short of pure love. The family wishes to thank all those at Cascade Hospice who forever touched the hearts of Leonard and his family. Thank you. Memorial Service will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 2310 Clearbrook Road, Abbotsford, on October 25th 2011 at 1:30 p.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Chilliwack Hospice Society.
