DYCK, Ernie & Leona (nee Heide)

"The Lord works in mysterious ways", and on the morning of Oct. 14, 2010, Ernie & Leona passed away approximately 3 hours apart. Both Ernie & Leona were born in Saskatchewan, Ernie in Borden on Dec. 8, 1919 and Leona in Hepburn on Feb. 19, 1923. Although from the same province they actually met in Virgil, Ontario and exchanged marriage vows on Dec. 19, 1943. Following their union they owned and operated a fruit farm in the Niagara area while Ernie also worked at General Motors. They moved to Abbotsford in 1966. Here they owned and operated a layer farm until retiring in 1980. Ernie & Leona always did things together from farming, to working on the Festival Committee in their church, to hours of fishing together. They were married for 66 years and are survived by their beloved family; children, Diana (David) Andres, Elaine (David) Balzer, Stan (Ann) Dyck and Laura (Norm) Wiebe; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law to Ernie, Louise Wiebe; siblings to Leona, Edna Nasgaard and Archie (Loretta) Heide; as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Ernie is predeceased by his siblings. Ernie & Leona are predeceased by their granddaughter, Audrey Andres. Ernie & Leona will forever be loved and cherished for the wonderful memories and legacy they have left behind for their family. There is great peace in knowing that they are still together as they have gone to be with their Lord and Saviour.
