MCLEOD, Leo Murdock

Passed away peacefully on August 4, a few short months after the passing of his loving wife Margaret. Leo was born August 29, 1920 in Leslieville, Alberta to Henry and Margaret McLeod. One of seven children, he is predeceased by his sisters Bernice Hart and Isabel McBride and brother Clarence (Scotty). He is survived by sisters Helen Anderson, Vera Johnston and his brother John, all of Alberta. Leo is survived by his son Robert of Edmonton, daughter Judy and son-in-law Don Dominczuk of White Rock and granddaughter Lauren Dominczuk of Vancouver.

Leo left his family farm in Alberta to serve in the RCAF from 1941 to 1947, serving in the Aleutian Islands and in Canada. He met Margaret Alice Wilton when they were stationed at the same RCAF base in Lethbridge. They were married in 1944 and moved to Abbotsford in 1947. After jobs in the Clayburn Brick Plant and Pacific Milk Plant, Leo started his business, McLeod Sash & Door on South Fraserway.

He was a founding and proud member of Abbotsford Branch 15 of the Royal Canadian Legion, and was honoured with a 60 Year pin, a Life Membership, Veteran of the Year and Meritorious Service Medal. He was also a founding member and of the Lynnhaven Society.

In his retirement years, Leo enjoyed cruises and trips with Margaret, fishing with his friends and his volunteer activities.

Leo's family sincerely thanks the wonderful staff at the Cottage Pavilion for their ready smiles and their compassionate care. Following a private family service a Hazelwood Cemetery, there will be a Celebration of Life at 1 pm on Friday, August 27 at the Calvin Presbyterian Church, 2597 Bourquin Crescent East. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
