WARDEN, Lena Augusta. Lena peacefully entered into the presence of the Lord she loved and served, on Monday, June 6, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer. Lena (Mom/Nana) will be dearly missed by her husband of 62½ years, Bert, and her seven children, Len (Diane), Gaileen, Judy, Joy (Bob) Brougher, Evan (Betty), Lori (Gary) Schmidt, Bonnie (Dean) Salvog, 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Lena was born on August 29, 1924 in Fenwood, Saskatchewan to John and Mathilda Dohms, the 11th of 14 children. She was born again into the family of God at age 11. After graduating from Western Canadian Bible Institute in Regina, she married Bert on September 22, 1948. Bert and Lena served the Lord in Cuba at an orphanage (1950-52, 1957-61), then in ministries in Miami, Florida (1963-1983) pastoral work, Spanish literature. Lena worked for eight years in the kitchen of Miami Christian College, Miami, Florida at first part time and then as Food Services Manager. Lena showed her love in so many ways, not the least of which was from her kitchen. Her gift of hospitality extended to so many people wherever she and Bert lived-resulting in the unofficial "adoption" of several of the friends of their children. In 1983 Bert and Lena returned to British Columbia, living in Surrey (1983-87), Mission (1987-94) and Abbotsford (1994 to the present). Lena was a woman of prayer, with missions being especially dear to her heart because of her children who served or still serve overseas. For this reason, in lieu of flowers, Bert and the family request that donations to be made to the missions fund of the Christian and Missionary Alliance through Sevenoaks Alliance Church in Abbotsford.

Lena is also survived by sisters Mary Reinheimer, Edith Dohms and Alice Wall, and sister-in-law Honor Warden, as well as many, many nieces and nephews and extended family from the Dohms side of the family. The Warden family would especially like to thank the doctors and personnel both at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital palliative care unit and at Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission for their loving care of Mom/ Nana during these past two months. We are also so grateful for the visits and prayers of so many family and friends.

A Memorial Service celebrating Lena's life will be held Monday, June 13, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at Sevenoaks Alliance Church, 2575 Gladwin Rd, Abbotsford. Woodlawn Funeral Home
