TURNER; Laura Margaret Turner

Laura was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta where she lived until the passing of her husband of 19 years, John William “Jack” Turner in 1958, after which time she and her two sons David and John moved to North Vancouver to be closer to Laura’s family. Laura subsequently worked for a short time with her mother in the family business, a lady’s ready to wear store. Although Laura had never worked outside the home during her married life, she proved herself to be quite adaptable and was hired as a department store security person, which she did for about 25 years. Following retirement she moved to Maple Ridge where she remained until her illness in December of 2015. She moved to TRIM, The Residence in Mission in April of this year. Laura was an accomplished pianist and enjoyed playing for family and friends, everything from gospel hymns to all the old favourites. Her repertoire seemed endless. People in the apartment where she lived often commented that they enjoyed hearing her music as they walked down the hallway. She was a very generous and giving person and donated a substantial portion of her modest income to the cause of Christ. Laura is survived by her two sons David and wife, Charlotte of Mission, John, and wife Pam, of Maple Ridge, her sister Doris Kane of Pitt Meadows, five grandchildren, Lauri, David, Daniel, Mark, and Samuel and eight great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at TRIM, the Residence in Mission; they are to be commended for their kindness and attentive care to all who are blessed to spend their final days receiving compassionate excellent care from such committed people.
