NELSON; Laura Virginia
Laura Virginia (Ginny) Nelson (nee Marangoni) was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on May 11, 1930 and passed away peacefully at the Menno Home in Abbotsford where she was well cared for on July 16, 2016. At birth she weighed less than two pounds. Her parents coated her in olive oil, wrapped her in warm cotton and laid her on the open oven door to keep warm. She was very close to her three sisters and two brothers. At the age of 18 she travelled across Canada by train to visit two of the sisters in Ucluelet, BC. It was there that she met her husband Lloyd and they were married on Meares Island near Tofino in 1950. This was where all the children would be born and they were her whole life. The family moved to Mission, BC in 1959. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Richard (Sandy), Carole (Dale), Catherine and Laura (Perry); 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Lloyd in 2012. The family will miss her and they thank her for her unconditional love.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 32550 7th Avenue, Mission, BC on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mennonite Benevolent Society, 32945 Marshall Road Abbotsford, BC.
