December 21, 2020
1962-2020 ~ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear daughter, wife and mother, Kristine, on December 21 at the Penticton Hospital from complications from a stroke.
Kristine was born in Edmonton but lived in BC since she was two years old. She enjoyed a carefree childhood on Mayne Island before moving to Abbotsford in 1978. Here she met her future husband and love of her life, Richard Quirk.
Together they bought a home on Sumas Prairie, where they raised their two boys, Nick and Brody. Rick and Kris provided a safe haven for the boys and their many friends to gather. The neighbours tolerated many farm boy trucks coming and going as they grew older. Her boys made her proud every day.
Kris's life centered around her home and her family and was greatly loved by them. We will always be grateful for her selflessness, her kind, gentle spirit and her mischievous sense of humour and contagious laugh.
Kris worked for over 30 years at the Menno Home as a long term care aide before retiring in 2017 and moving to Olalla, near Osoyoos, where the family vacations every year.
Predeceased by her sister Leslie Halvorson, father Kenneth Halvorson and Aunt Doreen and Uncle Ernest Swenson.
Survived by husband Rick, son Nick and his fiancé Brittany, son Brody and his fiancee Mikayla, mother Beverley Brown and partner Jerry Vanderveen, brother Robert Halvorson, aunt and uncle Shari and Tim Konchak, Uncle Roger Bain, nephew Brandon (Karisse) Dac, niece Leah White, dear cousins, Shelly (Glenn), Patty, David (Liz), Tracy (Cedric) and Brad (Kathy) as well as her pups Puff and Scruffy.
A Celebration of Life will follow when permitted. Condolences can be sent to Rick at 1504 Main St., North Olalla, BC V0X 1N6.
