1923 ~ 2005
Katherine (Kay) Funk passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on August 19, 2005 at the age of 82 years. Kay was born August 1, 1923 in Fürstenland, Russia and came to Canada in 1926. Her parents were Peter and Elizabeth Wolfe. After eight years in Manitoba, the family moved to Yarrow, BC in 1934. This community became Kay’s home for the next 71 years. Kay married Cornelius Frank Funk on March 27, 1955. They continued living in Yarrow, enjoying their work and the small community atmosphere. Kay was predeceased by her parents; her husband, and brothers, Cornelius, Peter, and William (Bill). She is survived by one sister Helen Kaethler; many nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2005 from 7:00 — 9:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd, Abbotsford. A Funeral Service will be Friday, August 26, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. from Yarrow M.B. Church with burial to follow at Yarrow Cemetery. Donations in Katherine’s memory may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee or the Canadian Cancer Society.
