REMPEL Katherina (nee Hiebert)

Kay passed away on June 14, 2013 at the Menno Hospital. She was born in Kronsthal Village Gretna, Manitoba on July 31, 1924. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Nicholas in 1992. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Sharron and Peter Masztalar, Kenneth and Bonnie Rempel, Warren and Dianne Rempel and Nola and Glen Emery. She had 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her brother Robert (Jo) Hiebert, her sister Violet Sawatsky, her sisters-in-law Sally, Tate, Neta Smith and Ellie Rempel all from Manitoba and many nieces and nephews. Kay and Nick were married in Winnipeg, Manitoba on June 19, 1942 at the 1st Mennonite Church and except for a brief period during the war, they lived in Winnipeg until 1958 when they and their four children moved to Abbotsford, BC.

Kay will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. She was known far and wide for her doughnuts, cinnamon buns and chicken soup. She loved to cook and bake for her family and all their friends. She will be sadly missed. We love you Mom. In lieu of flowers a donation to the MCC would be appreciated. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 22nd, 1:00 pm at Personal Alternatives at 3070 275A St., Aldergrove. The family also wishes to thank all the staff at the Menno Hospital for all their kindness.
