Katarina STOBBE

STOBBE – Katarina (Katie). Our precious mother passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, July 23rd, 2011 at the Menno Hospital, Abbotsford, BC at the age of 96. Katie was born in Gnadenheim, Siberia on December 17, 1914. She married Bill Stobbe on July 7, 1940 in Abbotsford. They lived in the Lower Mainland area until 1947. Then they heard God’s call to move to Alberta where they resided until 1972. Their next area of ministry was Vancouver Island until 1988 when they moved back to Abbotsford. Their married life was a “Venture of Faith” as they served the Lord side by side, always ministering to people especially towards anyone in need. Katie’s beloved Bill passed away on February 13th, 2006, the same day she moved into assisted living at Menno Terrace. She moved to the Menno Hospital in the fall of 2010 where she remained until her passing. She never complained and always had an encouraging word. We thank the Lord that she was not in pain and her mind remained clear. Katie was predeceased by her husband, Bill Stobbe, daughter-in-law Margaret Stobbe and is survived and lovingly remembered by her 8 children; son, Victor, wife Carolyn, son Stanley, wife Olive, daughter Esther Swanson, husband Derek, son Daniel, wife Cathy, son Harry, wife Mary, daughter Miriam Peters, son Jim and daughter Margaret Rukin, husband Stan; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters and 3 brothers; along with numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Menno Terrace and Menno Hospital along with the many family and friends that visited and prayed for mom over the past few years. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Sevenoaks Alliance Church, 2575 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford with burial following at the South Poplar Cemetery at 2:30 pm.
