Joyce Nielsen passed away peacefully at Langley Lodge on September 2, 2022. Joyce was just short of her 100th birthday having been born October 1, 1922 in Haywards Heath, Sussex England. Joyce was predeceased by her husband Paul in 1997 and her elder siblings Ronald Elliott and Elizabeth Mitchell. She is survived by sisters Freda Baker and Vera Cox both of Sussex England.
Joyce is also survived by sons David (Paulette) and Norman (Donna) and daughter Darlene Krause (Peter). Joyce had 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Joyce met her future husband Paul, a Canadian soldier at a prayer meeting in her small village in Sussex during WWII. They were married July 11, 1945 and at the end of the war she immigrated to Canada joining Paul on his father's farm near Steveston BC. Joyce and Paul lived in various parts of British Columbia including: Nicomen Island, Rosedale, Armstrong, Vernon, and Abbotsford. Joyce's life revolved around her family and her church. She loved family gatherings and cooking great meals for her children and grandchildren when they came to visit. She was always active in the local Baptist Church including being a Sunday school teacher, Women's ministry leader, and senior's home group leader.
Joyce's final years were spent at Langley Lodge where she was well cared for by all the staff.
