May 6, 1945 - April 20, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, colleague and friend on Monday, April 20, 2020, at the age of 74.
Larry will be lovingly remembered by his three children: Jeff Howe (Tina) and their children Katherine and Elowen; Mike Howe (Carmen) and their children Halle, Kassidy and William; and Jenn Howe; and his brothers Gary Howe (Colleen) and their children Leslie (Cody) Rayment (nee Howe) and Ross; and Fred Howe (Barb) and their children Evan (Sarah) and Kirsten.
Larry grew up with his parents John and Kathleen "Kay" (nee Bethune) and his three brothers Don, Gary and Fred in Calgary. He was a football, track and field and basketball star in high school. He earned degrees in mathematics and education and was a Chartered Accountant in private practice for half of his career, and taught business and accounting courses at the University of the Fraser Valley until retiring in 2010.
He married Paula Howe (nee Reynolds) in 1972 and settled in Abbotsford where he raised his family before moving to Sardis in 1999 where he lived quietly until his death.
Larry was passionate about photography. He enjoyed the outdoors, movies, computers and he was an avid sports fan. His grandchildren were his greatest joy.
Larry was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in his mid-forties and battled the disease for over 30 years. He died peacefully in his sleep of a cardiac event. We will be forever grateful to all those who loved and cared for Larry.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Diabetes Canada or to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. There will be no service. Condolences to Larry's family may be sent to jandthowe@gmail.com
