JOHN ENS

November 27, 1923 ~ May 31, 2008

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Ens who passed away May 31, 2008 after a short but courageous battle with Leukemia. John was born on November 27, 1923 in Waldheim, Saskatchewan to Gerhard & Elizabeth (Wiebe) Ens. A very proud veteran having served his country in World War II. John joined The Regina Rifle Regiment which was part of the third Canadian Division that landed on Juno Beach on June 6th, 1944 in the Invasion of Normandy. Even though John was a respected Realtor for over 30 years he never lost his love of farming. He enjoyed working on his small hobby farm in Abbotsford, growing his famous tomatoes which he shared with family and friends. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, from showing them how to build a bird house in his workshop to giving them endless rides on his tractor. These were some of his favorite times. He is survived by his loving wife Erna (Ann) of 56 years, children: Rita Botting, George (Sheryl) Ens, Kathy (Mike) Board, grandchildren: Gregory, Steven & Robert Botting, Mitchell & Zachary Board, and Leanne & Michelle Ens. He is also survived by one sister, Nettie (Ray) Dyck and many nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held on Monday, June 9 at Maclure Road Cemetery, anyone wishing to attend, please meet at the Northview Community Church, 32040 Downes Rd., Abbotsford at 10:30 a.m. A Celebration of John's life will follow at the Northview Community Church at 1 p.m., reception to follow. Viewing for family and friends from 7 - 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 8th at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd.
