January 13, 1943 – July 14, 2020
John Derksen passed away peacefully at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital on July 14, 2020.
He was born January 13, 1943 in Chilliwack, BC to Cornelius and Susan Derksen. John was the second youngest in a family of ten children, leaving behind two sisters and one brother, Mary Hamm, Margaret Allen and Jake Derksen, as well as many nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
John struggled with mental health challenges for most of his adult life. Despite this, for decades he cared for his mother and older sister to sustain a community, giving comfort to all of them. On his passing his family honours his humanity and his kind and gentle spirit.
A Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
