John Braun

Abbotsford, BC

September 3, 1933 ~ February 1, 2017

John Milton Braun of Abbotsford, BC, passed away suddenly at his home on February 1, 2017. He was born in Carseland, Alberta as one of four children to John and Anna Braun. He is survived by his wife Alvina (nee Goosen) of 52 years, daughter Wendy (Neil) Andruk, son Gordon (Mary) Braun, son Loren (Jacalyn) Braun, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, his brother (Rudy Braun), two sisters (Mary Braun and Elsie Unger) and many nieces, nephews and extended family. John was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. John loved fixing and building things and spending time with his family. In his younger years he really enjoyed sports, mainly baseball and hockey, and singing in quartets and choirs. John spent most of his working life in the grocery business and finished out his last ten years working with the grounds and maintenance department of the Abbotsford school district. In his retirement, he continued to enjoy tinkering on projects and spent time volunteering at MCC fixing bikes, lawnmowers and just about anything else that came in. John was a joy to be around with his ready smile, positive attitude and great sense of humour. John was deeply loved by his family and will be dearly missed, but solace is taken knowing he is now home at rest with Jesus. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 10, at 2:00 pm at the Bakerview MB Church on 2285 Clearbrook Road in Abbotsford. Memorial donations (in lieu of flowers) can be made to the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC). Online condolences to the family may be made to: www.wiebeandjeskefh.com
