GIBSON, Joan(nee: Pinch)
July 10, 1921 ~ March 16, 2009
Joan passed away peacefully at her home to join her husband Bob, parents Vincent and Joanne, brothers Tom (Betty) and Jack (Bev). Joan was born in Dent, Yorkshire, England and she travelled with family to Marquette, Manitoba to farm. The affects of the drought and depression sent the family on to Vancouver, where she worked as a silk presser, then became a housewife and caregiver. They lived in Vancouver, Maple Ridge and Mission. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Margaret (Dick) Blades and Bert (Shirley) Gibson; grandchildren Robert (Kelly) Blades, David (Stacie) Blades, Alicia (Darrell) Motick and Spence (Vicki) Gibson; great- grandchildren Kaila and Kelsey Motick. Auntie Joan is mourned by many nieces and nephews who remember her kindness and love she had for all of them. Also, her beloved cousins in England, Dorothy (Tom) Anderton and Alan (Marianne) Owen. Joan was a devoted Member of OES Chapter 36 (21) and active member of All Saints Anglican Church. Family wishes to thank the kindness of Dr. W. DeKlerk, mothers “girls” at Fraser Health Home support services, Dr’s and staff at BC Cancer Agency and Dr’s and staff at BC Renal Care Clinics. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at All Saints Anglican Church, corner of 2nd and James, Mission, BC. No flowers by request but donations in Joan’s memory may be made, if desired, to Children’s Ministry at All Saints Anglican Church.
