Jenny Swanson

November 27, 1920 – June 23, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jenny Swanson on June 23, 2020.
Jenny was born November 27, 1920 in Rife, Alberta to William and Martha Apostoluk, she had nine sisters and two brothers.
She came to the Fraser Valley for the beautiful mountains and the raspberries and stayed when she met and married Leonard Swanson in 1948. They lived on the family farm on Matsqui Prairie and had three wonderful boys Allan, Terry and Ron.
In 1965 the family moved to Abbotsford and Jenny remained in that home until the end. Jenny loved taking care of her family, cooking, baking, canning, gardening and crocheting. When her grandson Lenny was born Jenny took on being a Grandma with joy. They had many adventures together and their love for each other was like no other. She always had a cup of tea and delicious baking for family, friends and anyone who came to visit. Jenny’s sense of humor, jokes and resilience in life’s trial made her an amazing role model for all that knew her.
Jenny is predeceased by her husband Leonard and son Terry. She is survived by her sons Allan (Wendy) and Ron, her grandson Len (Lisa) and Terry’s children Caitlin, Alison and William, as well as her sisters Helen, Sadie and Doris, many nieces, nephews and extended family.
‘We miss you and love you, Mom / Grandma. You will always be in our hearts and we find comfort knowing you are in Heaven with Grandpa and Terry.’
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Holmberg Hospice or Trinity Memorial Church Abbotsford.
We apologize but due to COVID 19 restrictions the interment and service will be for invited guests only.
It was time for me to leave – By Jenny Swanson
Don’t mourn, don’t grieve, it was time for me to leave
I had many years, some were happy, some had tears
Now that I am gone, my victory is won
This is not in vain, we will meet again
And when I am up above, I will watch you with care and love
Don’t mourn, don’t grieve, it was time for me to leave
Love Mom / GrandmaObituary
