In Loving Memory of Jenny de Jong
(Hubach). May 21, 1927 ~ March 24, 2014
After a long battle with various illnesses over many years, Jenny de Jong (Hubach) was promoted to the eternal peace she longed for, by her redeemer Jesus Christ. Her faith in God was steadfast throughout her nearly 87 years. Jenny died peacefully in her home, March 24, 2014. Jenny was born in Ijselmuiden, Holland, May 21, 1927, and raised in Kampen, in the Netherlands. She worked away from home as a young teenager to help her family during WW2. In later years she became a care giver for many elderly and ill people. She met her husband to be, Henk de Jong, who had immigrated to Canada, and was living in Telkwa, BC, by being pen pals with him. After Henk made a trip back to Holland to meet Jenny in 1952, they were engaged to be married. Henk returned to Canada. When she could, Jenny also immigrated to BC. They were bonded in marriage on June 5, 1953, in Telkwa, BC. They had four children while living and working in the Bulkley Valley for 20 years. They moved to Surrey, BC, where they lived for 14 years. In 1987 they moved to Abbotsford, BC where they eventually retired, and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. With heartfelt sadness Jenny will be lovingly remembered and missed by her loving husband Henk, their four children: Alice (Bob) Veysey, Peter (Nellie) de Jong, Renee (Albert) Santema, and Jenny Marcus, and by her 12 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held in the Emanuel Free Reformed Church on Mt. Lehman Road, Abbotsford, BC on March 29 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of choice.
