Hossack, Jean Beryl (White)

August 3, 1915 - June 24, 2008

With sadness we say goodbye to our very special Mom and Nana.

Beryl was born in White Rock where her father was an immigration officer at the White Rock Station. Later the family moved to Abbotsford where she graduated from high school. During the war years she opened her first business, a ladies ready to wear in Abbotsford. Then in 1946 Beryl married Robert Hossack and together they operated dry cleaning businesses in Mission, Chilliwack and Chemainus. During this time they had two daughters, Heather and Fern. After moving to London, Ontario in 1958, Beryl moved back to White Rock in the mid 1960's to operate Fashion Fabrics. Always the entrepreneur, she moved to Duncan where she opened up two more fabric stores. However, White Rock once again beckoned her return.

When everyone else her age should be retiring Beryl returned to school to become a registered care aide working at Evergreen Baptist Home well into her retirement years.

Beryl leaves behind her two daughters, Heather (Lee) Paterson, Fern (Rod) Hugh. Grandchildren, Coral (Tim) White, Spencer (Mandy) Northeast, Harvey (Heather) Whiting, Ben (Jamie -Lyn), Joel, Nick and Carleigh Hugh; her great grandchildren, Kayla, Isaac and Skye White and her brother Franklin (Edith) White of Pender Harbour. She was predeceased by her husband Robert and siblings Wesley, Gladys and Hazel.

The family wishes to thank all of the staff at the Dr. Allan Hogg Pavilion at Peace Arch Hospital and our many friends for their support.

Please join us in a celebration on what would have been mom's 93rd birthday Sunday August 3rd, 2pm at the home of her daughter Fern Hugh, S. Surrey, BC.

Mom, after being born here and having such wonderful childhood memories of White Rock, your wish to be laid to rest in White Rock has finally come true!
