LYONS; James (Jim) Wayne

June 8, 1942 ~ June 6, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved “Mr. Lovely” after complications from a blood infection. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Elinore;  son Corey (Marie) Lyons, grandsons,  Aidan and Riley;  daughter Karin (Glen) Pedneault, granddaughters,  Gabrielle (Gabby) and Paige. He is also survived by siblings, Evalyn Wood, Richard (Donna) Lyons, Lana (Doug) Esau, Lorne (Natasha) Lyons and many nieces and nephews. Jim was born in Penticton and was predeceased by parents Alex and Ethel Lyons. He was Director of Accounting for over 20 years a the University of the Fraser Valley (formerly Fraser Valley College) and retired in early 2000. Jim was a long time member of the B.C. Hot Rod Association and his love of cars was second only to his love for family and grandchildren. He was Treasurer for the Historic Downtown Abbotsford Car Show Society for over 10 years and was very active in the organizing of its annual car show. Jim was the ‘go to’ guy and his shop was always open to friends who just wanted  to visit or had a little question to ask. He was never afraid to tackle a problem for them or to take on a challenge such as restoring a jukebox or wiring their cars.  Jim seemed to be able to fix anything. He will be terribly missed by all his family and friends. A Celebration of Life is being held on Monday, July 18th at The Rancho, 35110 Delair Road, Abbotsford from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the B.C. Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Online condolences to the family may be made to: www.wiebeandjeskefh.com.
