DEGEER; James Earl


Passed away at Abbotsford Hospital on February 22, 2015 at the age of 85. Jim is pre-deceased by wife Nessie Degeer (nee Ballantyne, October 7, 1997) parents Earl Shelton and Claira (nee Anderson) Degeer, sisters and brothers, Lois, Laura, George & Charlie. He is survived by sisters-in-law, Judy and Maureen, brother-in-law Eugene McCormack, and a number of nieces and nephews in Ontario. Jim was born in Bancroft, ON and came to Abbotsford in 1967. He worked at Abbotsford Chrysler from 1971 until his retirement then worked for Harwood Industries. Jim was an Abbotsford Kiwanis member for 45 years and past Lt. Govenor, recipient of the Mel Osborne and Milt Lewis awards and fellow life member recipient. He was also a Director of Schmidt Family Foundation, Maple Wood House, Abbotsford Kiwanis Foundation and member of the Abbotsford Curling Club. Service to be held at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 2597 Bourquin Cres. E., Abbotsford, BC, Thursday March 5, 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to Calvin Presbyterian Church building fund.
